A sump basin collects water at the lowest point of a basement or crawlspace drainage system. The pump moves that water into discharge piping, which carries it away from the structure.
Installation planning starts with the collection point and surrounding basement conditions. We account for the basin, pump position, available access, and outlet route rather than treating the pump as a stand-alone appliance.

New Jersey Sump Pump Code & Permit Considerations
The New Jersey Uniform Construction Code defines a sump pump as equipment that moves collected water from a sump to an above-grade discharge remote from the structure. The state plumbing code also includes venting and check-valve requirements for sump pit and ejector pit installations. A check valve is a fitting that allows flow in one direction through the discharge line.
Sump pump discharge piping generally can’t terminate in a sanitary sewer in most New Jersey jurisdictions. The permitted location and configuration depend on the installation conditions and applicable municipal enforcement.
Permit requirements for a new installation or replacement vary by municipality because local authorities enforce the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code. Sump pumps also require power, and electrical requirements depend on site conditions and the rules applied by the municipality.
